Open House For Affordable, Sustainable Design Home
Self-Help is hosting an open house on Thursday, September 11, 2008 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. for its newly completed sustainable design home at 1020 Kent Street in Durham.
The home is modeled on the winning design from the 2007 N.C. Sustainable Design Competition and is designed to be both sustainable and affordable. Self-Help has already build around 50 high-quality, energy efficient homes over the past four years with residents saving, on average, over $200 each year in energy costs. 1020 Kent Street is set to raise that bar even higher.
The event will be held at 1020 Kent Street in Durham. It is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. with an informational program followed by self-guided tours from 6-7 p.m.
Self-Help, a community development lender and real estate developer that works with qualified individuals, organizations and communities traditionally underserved by conventional markets, has provided over $5 billion of financing to over 60,000 low-wealth families, small businesses and nonprofit organizations in North Carolina and nationwide.
