Fayetteville-Cumberland Chamber Goes Green
The Fayetteville-Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce announced a new initiative Wednesday to “GO GREEN” by not only promoting environmentally friendly business practices, but by adopting those practices itself.
“Green business practices are good business practices – they save money and resources and help the bottom line,” said Doug Peters, Chamber President and CEO in a press release. “The chamber wants to ensure that it is one of the leaders in the conservation area.”
Peters said the biggest step the chamber is taking is to switch from a printed newsletter to an online version.
Each month more than 4,500 copies of the 12-page newsletter are mailed to chamber members and stakeholders.
Other steps the chamber is taking include the formation of an office GREEN Team, which will be in charge of recycling paper, purchasing eco-friendly office supply products, raising employee awareness to conserve energy and reduce admissions from technology equipment.
