Local Company Donates Energy Services for “Extreme Makeover” House
Monday, July 28th, 2008

RTP, N.C. – Southern Energy Management (SEM), a provider of solar power and energy efficiency services in the Carolinas, will donate a solar water heater and Energy Star verification to a Charlotte family selected as the recipient of the home makeover show, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

Ty Pennington, host of the hit show, will surprised the Charlotte family at their home Monday. The new home will be constructed in five days and will incorporate energy efficiency as a core feature. (more…)

Nobel Winner Talks Tactics On Climate Change

RICHMOND - Mohan Munasinghe says world leaders recognize there are problems with poverty, energy and the environment, but what they don’t understand is that they are all connected.

“You don’t want to start solving problems piecemeal here and make the other problem worse,” said Munasinghe, vice chairman of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The panel and former Vice President Al Gore won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for their work on climate change. (more…)
